We love the colour combination on this 1960s Jean Allen maxi dress. The print mixes warm golden highlights together with navy blue accents on cream in a painterly, abstract pattern. The dress has an inverted empire line and scoop neck from which flows a fantastic manmade organza overlay which falls to around ankle length. The dress is lined in a very fine quality acetate and fastens to the rear with the original metal zip. There is a slight sheen to the organza. The bust line and bottom hem of the dress is trimmed in blue satin to coordinate with the blue accents and a long bow to the centre completes the look.
In really superb vintage condition with no faults of any note, this would make a fantastic dress for a summer wedding or soiree. Best fit for a UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Jean Allen was a high end British label manufacturing dresses to be sold in department stores from the 1950s through to the 1970s. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in (163cm) and this dress was a little roomy on her bust but otherwise fit her well.
